Busting Myths: Is Dietary Fat Bad?

I have been avoiding this post for a while. Why? Because while this post says something that is a core part of my nutrition philosophy, (It is not just me by the way. It is something that every legit fitness expert knows and lives by) it is definitely something that is controversial. Unfortunately.

Unless you are this guy, you should eat dietary fat to get a chick like this. If you are a chick like this, you are already eating dietary fat!

Dietary fat is great for you! Really. This is not meant to be a long post with tens of links and research articles cited — I don’t want to write like that. Instead, I will write a few short posts about this over the course of the year, and so here goes.

One of the biggest factors that shapes an infants life is nutrition a.k.a breast milk. The longer one is breast-fed, the healthier the infant is. The advantages are just numerous, and formula is not a replacement for breast milk! I am sure you are all in agreement with me. So, what is the composition of human milk? By calories it is 39% carbs, 54% fat and 7% protein! More than half of it is fat! The brain, in infants, accounts for 50% of calorie consumption in infants, and only 20% in adults. So, adults should require even less carbs, as the brain feeds on glucose. So, if we were to have an adult version of human milk, it would be 20% carbs, 64% fat, and 16% protein. QED.

I will talk about the paleo diet, the setbacks caused by neolithic diets, the diets of animals (omnivores, carnivores and herbivores) to solidify this point. But not yet. Once again — dietary fat is essential and should form the majority of your diet.
