We live in a world in which we need to share responsibility. It's easy to say "It's not my child, not my community, not my world, not my problem." Then there are those who see the need and respond. I consider those people my heroes.

– Fred Rogers

A student of mine sent me this quote. I was one of those people who said that it is not my problem. But when I realised I could find fitness and that it was transformational, I simply could not keep it to myself.

With the general trend of health and fitness going south, I do think we need more people to share the responsibility of talking sense and realistic goals and approaches. And skipping scams and fads.

Choose the pain of discipline, not the pain of regret.

– Derek Sivers

Simple. Powerful.

Do I put this candy in my mouth now? Or do I repeat this pain of saying "No" for 6 months and have 2 inches lesser around my waist?

Or do I give in, and then 3 months later, bitch and moan about another failed diet and how I just cannot get leaner?

Everything is a choice.

... unbounded growth cannot be sustained without having either infinite resources or inducing major paradigm shifts that "reset" the clock before potential collapse occurs.

– Geoffrey West

He is talking about the theory of finite time singularity. Sounds fancy and complex, right. I am going to steal it and talk about more regular stuff.

In most instances, these paradigm shifts are brilliant. But sometimes, we need to know if it is a true paradigm shift. Running away to space to colonise it - is that a true paradigm shift? Killing the Earth and being done with it and going elsewhere to try again? Well, what do you think is gonna happen there, wherever that is? The real paradigm shift would be where we live in ecological balance. In my naive opinion.
